Peter, Paul And Mary were involved in the civil rights movement and also took part in the March on Washington. There they played their hit „If I Had A Hammer“, Martin Luther King gave his famous speech „I Have A Dream“. Paul‘s „Wedding Song (There Is Love),“ which he wrote in 1971 for Peter‘s wedding ceremony to Marybeth McCarthy, a niece of Senator Eugene McCarthy, is still a standard song for weddings in America. In 1999, the group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
