Description
The first album of Davis in cooperation with Gil Evans, who arranged and conducted the record. You’ll hear Davis as the only soloist and instead of the trumpet he plays the Flugelhorn. The saxophone set was replaced by sixteen woodwind and brass players which gives the record an unusual sound and feel. Shortly after the success of the record Evans and Davis released Porgy and Bess (1958) and Sketches of Spain (1959/60).
