Description
‘Conversations With Myself’ was recorded in 1963 and earned Evans his first Grammy Award in 1964 for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group. It also received a 5-star review in DownBeat in 1963. It is a classic of its kind. For this verve project, Bill Evans recorded three piano parts via overdubbing. Aptly titled, the music on this LP has a surprising amount of spontaneity, with Evans constantly reacting to what he had just recorded, and the results are sometimes haunting. The highlights include “How About You,” “The Love Theme from ‘Spartacus,” “Blue Monk,” and “Just You, Just Me.”
