The Most Anticipated Movies of 2022

Growing up, many of us visited a wholesale DVD distributor to buy a stack load of movies. Then
we'd hurry home, eat, laugh, and rant while watching. Wholesale DVDs were probably the
heroes of our holidays. This year, many movies are being released from DC, Marvel, and
Hollywood's brightest. Stars like Brad Pitt, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, and Keke Palmer are
about to grace our screens.
The Batman and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have done exceptionally well at
the film office thus far in 2022, as are the usual large IPs. Adaptations of video games like
Uncharted and Sonic The Hedgehog 2 have also performed well this year. Also, unique
releases like Everything Everywhere All At Once. Here is a short list of the movies we look
forward to seeing through summer and the rest of the year.

● Jurassic World: Dominion - June 10 (Theatres)

Jurassic World: Dominion is an intriguing addition to the Jurassic Park series, but there are a
few reasons why it stands apart. However, sequels can never be ruled out for this Colin
Trevorrow-directed film, which will bring a satisfying end to the stories introduced in Jurassic
World. In addition, Sam Neil, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, the original Jurassic Park trio, will
rejoin for the first time since Jurassic Park in Jurassic World: Dominion.

● Lightyear - June 17 (Theatres)

Lightyear is one of the most anticipated Pixar releases of the year, and that is not an
exaggeration. Lightyear will be the first Pixar film to be released in IMAX theatres, in addition to
its standard high-quality 3D animation and stunning visual effects. Chris Evans' casting as Buzz
Lightyear, as opposed to Tim Allen's, was prompted by the engaging plot and the fact that it will
feature Buzz Lightyear as if he were a real person.

● Cha Cha Smooth - June 17 (Theatres)

Many people liked this quirky romantic comedy, which tells the story of an aimless twenty-
something boy (writer/director Cooper Raiff) who finds meaning in life by hosting Bar Mitzvahs
and romancing an aloof mother (Dakota Johnson, always fire). Thankfully, I wasn't one of those
people. I'll leave it to you to make the call to be on the safe side. Brad Garrett, Leslie Mann, and
Vanessa Burghardt round out the cast.

● Elvis - June 24 (Theatres)

After films like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, biopics of legendary musicians like
Freddie Mercury and Elvis Presley are becoming increasingly prevalent. The Baz Luhrmann
picture, on the other hand, looks to be anything from a standard biopic. Early reviews of the film
at the Cannes Festival have focused on its stunning graphics and Austin Buttler's portrayal of
Elvis Presley.

● The Black Phone - June 24 (Theatres)

A soundproof basement is the setting for Scott Derrickson's latest horror film, starring Ethan
Hawke as a serial killer who abducts children. Finney (Mason Thames) is just 13 years old when
he discovers a phone that can transmit the voices of prior victims. Based on Joe Hill's short tale,
"The Black Phone" is produced by Jason Blum, Chris Derrickson, and C. Cargill, Robert.

● Minions: The Rise Of Gru - July 1 (Theatres)

Although the first and only Minions standalone film was released seven years ago, Minions: The
Rise of Gru is a highly anticipated sequel. It's no surprise that the first Despicable Me spin-off,
Minions, is the highest-grossing picture in the series. Minions: The Rise of Gru is one of the best
summer 2022 releases for kids.

● Thor: Love And Thunder – July 8 (Theatres)

Thor: Love and Thunder follow Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness. After directing Thor:
Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi returns to direct this fourth solo appearance for an MCU hero.
Given how innovative Ragnarok was for Thor, it will be intriguing to see how he transforms in
Thor: Love and Thunder. Christian Bale will play Gorr the God Butcher, Russel Crowe will play
Zeus, and Natalie Portman will reprise her role as Thor.

● The Gray Man - July 15 (Theatres/Streaming)

The Gray Man, starring Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, and Regé-Jean Peage,
promises to be one of the most exciting films of 2022. The film's directors, Anthony and Joe
Russo, are well-known for their work on the Captain America series, including Captain America:
The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers:
Endgame. They also direct the Netflix feature. The Gray Man will premiere in the US on July 15.

● Nope - July 22 (Theatres)

"Get Out" and "Us" creator Jordan Peele returns this summer with "Nope," a cryptic thriller. The
film's poster portrays a stormy cloud with a trail of pennant flags, but the plot has not yet been
revealed. Barbara Ferrera, Brandon Perea, and Michael Wincott will join Daniel Kaluuya, Keke
Palmer, and Steven Yeun in the cast.

● Black Adam - October 21 (Theatres)

Black Adam will be launched in 2022 after 15 years of speculation. Black Adam is also the
Justice Society's first feature film. Black Adam will journey through time with Dr. Fate,
Hawkman, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher. Black Adam's success could lead to future DCEU films
and spin-offs focusing on Black Adam and the Justice Society.

● Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - November 11 (Theatres)

Even before a teaser is available, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be bittersweet.
Wakanda Forever is a sequel to one of the best MCU flicks. It's the first Black Panther picture
after Chadwick Boseman's death in 2020. Wakanda Forever will be an emotional tribute to the
man who reinvented Black Panther despite his brief time playing the character. Wakanda
Forever is expected to feature Namor and other MCU characters, including Doctor Doom and
Storm.

● Avatar: The Way Of Water – December 16 (Theatres)

Many people still doubt the Avatar film series even though the first film in the series has
remained a cultural touchstone for nearly a decade without any further updates. In terms of
worldwide box office, no movie has ever come close to Avatar's record-breaking earnings.
Screenings of the first Avatar could generate even more interest in Avatar 2 in select cinemas in
September 2022. This time around, Avatar: The Way of the Water director James Cameron has
promised yet another technological leap, which is one of many reasons the cinematic sequels to
Avatar took so long.

More to come in the year include Don't Worry Darling, Three Thousand Years Of Longing,
Creed 3, Knives Out 2, Babylon, The Fabelmans, and many more. 2022 has been full of
amazing movies. We know you'd have a splendid time eating popcorn and watching on your
sofa with these movies. We all know the pleasure DVD movies bring is like no other.
